Farm Spa New Upstairs Bathroom
From an upstairs room turned jungle for 2 precious grandsons to a luxurious spa bathroom with steam shower.
Who: A youngish grandmother/designer who left the city (Seattle) in 2020 to retreat to a farm in the gorgeous Skagit Valley.
The Dream: A luxurious upstairs spa bathroom with a steam shower.
The Concept: An unfinished and steeply sloped attic/closet was just big enough to create a small bathroom with a luxurious steam shower. The sloped ceiling and lack of windows worked well for steam shower criteria. The designated area was situated in close proximity a floor above the only bathroom in the 100+ year old farmhouse.
The Challenges: The steam shower components presented many unique considerations. The space needed to be fully waterproof. Materials needed to be able to withstand both heat and moisture. The dimensions created angles everywhere. Fittings were exact; access was difficult.
The Wow Factor: Transforming a relatively unusable corner of a rustic old farmhouse into a high-end spa bathroom inspired many wows along the way. The finished product is masterful! Definitely dreamy!
